PRESS RELEASE
Friday, October 30, 1998
During the evening hours of Friday, October 23, 1998, undercover officers from the Los Angeles Police Department, Operations-South Bureau, participated in a preplanned, coordinated operation designed to curb prostitution and other illegal activities occurring in the Southwest community. The main arteries of Figueroa and Vermont Streets and Adams Boulevard were the areas in which the task force concentrated its resources. This task force resulted in the arrest of 11 male customers for solicitation to commit prostitution.

California Penal Code Section 647(b) P.C., applies to the customer as well as the prostitute. The section further provides a mandatory 45-day sentence for two convictions or 90 days for three convictions.
