Barricaded Suspect Attempts to Kill His Ex and Their Children

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Tuesday, November 16, 1999

On Monday, November 15, 1999, at approximately 8:20 a.m., Los Angeles Police Department Foothill Area Officers responded to a domestic violence call at the 14300 block of Foothill Boulevard. The suspect was barricaded inside the location holding his ex-girlfriend and their two children hostage. The suspect threatened to kill the victims, himself and the responding officers.

The suspect broke into the victim's residence and turned on the gas letting the gas fill the apartment. The suspect then gathered the victim, their two children, and the victim's mother in one bedroom. The suspect threatened to kill all of the victims by blowing up the residence, as he sat there with a lighter. The suspect simultaneously held a knife to the victim's neck. The suspect had disconnected the phone lines and held onto the phones when he moved around the apartment.

The suspect eventually allowed the victims to leave and the suspect surrendered.

For further information about this case, please call Foothill Major Assault Crimes Unit Detectives at 818-834-3115.
