Fatal Traffic Collision in the Hollywood Area

On Monday, November 29, 1999, at approximately 8:05 A.M., a vehicle vs pedestrian traffic collision occurred at Beverly Boulevard and Kingsley Drive. Yosida Pena, a 33-year-old area resident was driving her 1989 Hyundai westbound on Beverly Boulevard when she ran off the roadway and up onto the sidewalk on the northeast corner of the intersection with Kingsley Drive. While her vehicle was moving on the sidewalk it struck and severely injured a pedestrian standing on the corner. The pedestrian is described as a male Hispanic approximately 40 years of age. LAFD personnel transported the victim to Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital where he was pronounced dead due injuries from the collision.

The driver alleges the actions of another vehicle caused her to lose control of her vehicle just prior to the collision. No arrests have been made as of this time and the investigation is continuing. Identity of victim is not available pending notification of next of kin.
