Police Seeks Public's Assistance in Apprehending Murder Suspect

Friday, November 19, 1999


On Thursday, November 18,1999, at approximately 9:50 p.m., Van Nuys patrol officers responded to a radio call in the 15000 block of Friar Street for a shooting. At the location officers found Joel Enciso, a male Hispanic, 22 years old, inside suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. Paramedics were called and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The suspect(s) and unknown caliber weapon is outstanding. The motive for this shooting is still unknown.

Van Nuys Area Homicide Detectives Matthew Sibayan and Jack Gray are handling the case and are asking for the public's assistance in apprehending the suspect. Anyone with information leading to an arrest in the case are asked to contact Van Nuys Detectives at 818-756-8377.

UPDATE:

On Friday, November 19, 1999, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Raul Garcia, a male Hispanic, 20 years of age, resident of Van Nuys turned himself in at Van Nuys Station. Raul Garcia was wanted for questioning in connection with this murder. He was arrested and booked for Murder.
