Dedication Ceremony for Van Nuys Community Police Station Parking

PRESS RELEASE
Tuesday, November 30, 1999

WHAT:
The Los Angeles Police Department is having a dedication ceremony for the Van Nuys Community Police Station parking structure

WHEN:
Wednesday, December 1, 1999
9:00 a.m.

WHERE:
Van Nuys Station parking lot
6240 Sylmar Avenue
Van Nuys, California

WHY:
To officially open up the parking structure which was funded by Proposition 2 (1989) at a cost of 4.3 million dollars. The Van Nuys Area parking facility will add over 500 parking spaces to relieve the overcrowded conditions. The Valley Headquarters Building opened in 1964 and originally had a uniformed personnel strength of 155. Today, there are over 800 Los Angeles Police Department personnel assigned at the Valley Headquarters Building. Present at the ceremony will be Councilmember Cindi Miscikowski and Chief Bernard Parks.
