"5th Grade Essay Contest for Police Appreciation Day"

Devonshire - The Los Angeles City Council and the Mayor have proclaimed Friday, November 10, 2000, to be "Police Appreciation Day." Commemorating the Fifth Annual Police Appreciation Day, the Devonshire Area Community Police Advisory Board (CPAB) has sponsored a 5th grade essay contest for 5th grade students who attend Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) schools in Devonshire Area. The object of the contest is to strengthen the ties and stimulate interactions between police officers and the communities they serve. The topic of the essay contest is "Why I Appreciate the Police."

The Devonshire Area CPAB will host an award ceremony for the winners of the contest on November 13, 2000, at 9:30 AM in the Devonshire Community Police Station Roll Call Room. Please join the students, parents and teachers in congratulating the winners.
