K-9 Unit Receives Ballistic Vests

Santa Monica - On Tuesday, December 5, 2000, at 8:00 a.m., students from Carlthorpe Elementary school will be presenting two ballistic vests for the K-9's assigned to the Los Angeles Police Department's Metropolitan Division. The Presentation will take place at Carlthorpe Elementary School located at 438 San Vicente Boulevard in Santa Monica.

Six year old Devon Breten along with students and parents from Carlthorpe Elementary School, raised enough money through a bake sale fund raiser to purchase the ballistic vests from the International Armor Company, as part of the "Vest-a-Dog" program. There will be a brief K-9 demonstration as well as a photo opportunity.

For further information please contact Lieutenant Steve Zipperman, Metropolitan Division K-9 Platoon, 213-485-4091.

This media Advisory was produced by Public Information Officer Mariana Gallegos, Media Relations Section, 213-485-3586.
