Traffic Summit in South Central Los Angeles

Friday, November 16, 2001, Traffic Summit from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; Press Conference at 11:30 a.m.

Los Angeles: On Friday, November 16, 2001, at approximately 8:00 a.m., South Traffic Division will be hosting a Traffic Summit Meeting at the Zion Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, located at 7860 South 10th Avenue in Los Angeles. The meeting will begin at 8:00 a.m. and is scheduled to end at 1130 a.m. The Summit is being held to provide and exchange information regarding traffic safety issues with the citizens who live and work in the South Central Areas of Los Angeles. One of the main topics of discussion will be the "Safe School" Program, which was designed to educate the community and prevent tragic traffic collisions involving young children.

Following the Traffic Summit, a press conference will be held at the church to provide everyone attending the Summit with an opportunity to view a varied number of displays and obtain specific information regarding the Safe School program. Other traffic safety programs the Department which will be discussed and featured will include the "El Protector Azul" Program, and the "Risk Watch" Program.

Command and uniform officers, as well as detectives and Spanish- speaking officers will be present at the conference and available to answer questions and provide expertise on the specific traffic issues discussed at the Summit.
