Shooting Death of a 50 Year Old Male

 

Los Angeles: Rampart Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting death of a male Black, approximately 50 years of age. The shooting occurred adjacent to the apartment building at 400 South Westlake Avenue.

On Wednesday, November 21, 2001 at approximately 3:10 a.m., Rampart patrol officers responded to a shooting investigation at 400 South Westlake Avenue. Upon arrival, the officers observed the victim down on the sidewalk. The victim sustained a single gunshot wound to his upper torso. Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and transported the victim to USC Medical Center where he succumbed to his wound.

The investigation revealed witnesses heard several gunshots and notified the police department. The motive is unknown. The weapon and the suspect(s) are outstanding. The identity of the victim is unknown.
