Death Investigation Results in Death of 17 year-old

Los Angeles: On Sunday, November 16, 2003, at about 7:35 p.m., Foothill Area patrol officers responded to a "Death Investigation" radio call in the 14500 block of Lyle Street, in Sylmar. Upon arrival, the officers discovered a 17 year-old male juvenile down on the sidewalk, the victim of an apparent gunshot wound. Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedics responded and transported the victim where he was listed in critical condition, on life support.

The investigation revealed the crime to be gang related. An unidentified suspect approached the victim on foot, spoke briefly to the victim and shot him. The suspect, described as a Hispanic male, ran to an awaiting vehicle. The vehicle was described as a black full size, newer vehicle.

The suspect’s identity is unknown at this time.

Anyone with information regarding this shooting is urged to please contact Foothill Detective Division, at 818-834-3110. On weekends and during off-hours, contact the 24-hour toll free number at the Detective Information Desks, at 1-877-LAWFULL, 1-877-529-3855.
