"March Against Gang Violence and Softball Tournament"

When:
Saturday, December 4, 2004 , 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Where:
Woodley Park to Hjelte Sports Center, Woodley Park ( Woodley Avenue and Victory Boulevard ), Hjelt Sports Center ( 17017 Burbank Boulevard )

Los Angeles : The San Fernando Valley Coalition on Gangs is sponsoring a community event on December 4, 2004 , in the Sepulveda Recreation area of the San Fernando Valley .

The event will begin at Woodley Avenue Park at approximately 9:00 a.m. with City representatives and members of the San Fernando Valley Coalition on Gangs, speaking against gang violence. At 9:30 a.m. a march will begin at Woodley Avenue Park and end at the baseball fields of the Hjelte Sports Complex. At the Hjelte Sports Complex, there will be a series of softball games composed of Los Angeles area gang members, Los Angeles Police Department Officers and Probation Officers from LA County Probation. The games will start at 10:30 a.m. and will be played in a round robin style elimination process.

The San Fernando Valley Coalition on Gangs and the Communities in Schools will provide FREE food to all participants of the event. There will also be informational booths to assist parents and at-risk youths with prevention resources.
