Sobriety Checkpoint

What:
LAPD Sobriety Checkpoint

When:
Friday, November 4, 2005, 7:00 PM to
Saturday, November 5, 2005, 1:30 AM

Where:
Parthenia Boulevard Between Reseda Boulevard
and Tampa Avenue

Who:
LAPD Officers from Valley Traffic Division

Why:
The purpose of the sobriety checkpoint is to reduce the number of traffic collisions involving intoxicated drivers through enforcement and public awareness.

Local law enforcement officers have arrested over 3,000 drunk drivers in the San Fernando Valley since the beginning of 2005.  The sobriety checkpoint will be in accordance with guidelines for checkpoint operations in the Supreme Court decision, Ingersol vs. Palmer.  Based on traffic volume, all motorists will be checked.

For further information contact Sergeant Robert Kirk, Valley Traffic Division, at 818-756-8381.
