Gang Shooting in Westlake

Los Angeles: Rampart Homicide Detectives are investigating the murder of a 24-year-old Hispanic man.

On Saturday morning, November 12, 2005 at about 9:50 AM, a shooting call was generated in the 200 block of North Bonnie Brae Street.  Officers responded and found the victim down on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds to his chest.  The victim was taken to the USC Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The investigation revealed the victim was standing on the sidewalk when he was shot.  Unknown suspects drove up in a black color car with tinted windows.  A male suspect wearing a hooded sweatshirt approached the victim on foot, pulled out a handgun and fired several times.  The shooter entered the car on the passenger side and fled the location northbound towards Court Street.

The motive for the shooting is possibly gang related.  The weapon used is outstanding.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification to his family.

The Los Angeles Police Department is seeking assistance from the community, asking witnesses to contact Rampart Homicide Detectives J. Pere or C. Silva at 213-207-2060.  On weekends and during off-hours, call 24-hour toll free number at 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855).
