Robbery Duo Caught on Video
Los Angeles: Los Angeles police detectives have released video footage of a robbery that occurred last July at a San Pedro Del Taco. Detectives are hoping someone will recognize one or both of the suspects.
On Wednesday, July 19, 2006, around 11:15 P.M., two men entered the Del Taco at 18604 South Western Avenue in Gardena, posing as customers. The two ordered food then sat in the dining area for nearly an hour.
"It's hard to say whether this was a planned crime or an impulsive act," said LAPD spokesman Lieutenant Paul Vernon.
When the restaurant was clear of customers the duo made their move. One suspect jumped over the counter and opened the door for the second suspect. One suspect held an employee at gunpoint, while his partner took money from the cash register and other employees.
Both robbers were black and less than 6 feet tall. They were between 18 and 21 years old. The suspects left in a dark-colored, foreign car.
Surveillance video is available at Media Relations Section, 213-485-3586.
Anyone with information or recognizing the suspects is asked to call Harbor Area Robbery Detectives Pat Guerra or Officer Williams at 310-522-2029. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855).
