LAPD officers and LASD deputies will conduct weigh-ins, tour the facility and meet with City of Hope patients. The officers and deputies will also pass out event t-shirts.
This year’s fight for life boxing event will be dedicated to Central Traffic Division Motor Officer Carlos Torres, who lost his battle with leukemia earlier this year. His family will attend the event, which will be held on Friday, November 7 at 7 p.m. at the Quiet Cannon Golf Course and Country Club (901 N. Via San Clemente Montebello, CA 90640).
The City of Hope Charity Boxing Event started in 1994 when Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies befriended a cancer-stricken boy and made a commitment to improve the quality of his life and that of his family. Since that time, they turned to the LAPD to join them in their efforts to help others in similar situations, and the partnership continues to this day.
