Man Shot and Killed near South LA Bar

Los Angeles:  Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect(s) responsible for the shooting death of 22-year-old Raymond Davis.

On Sunday November 9, 2008 at about 12:35 a.m., officers responded to a “shots fired” radio call at the Safari Bar at 6628 South Vermont Avenue.  Officers found Davis, an Inglewood resident, on the sidewalk in front of the bar with a gunshot wound to his stomach.

Davis was transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries.

Witnesses said that Davis was standing outside of the bar when shots were heard.  A male Hispanic was seen leaving the area northbound on Vermont Avenue in a Black vehicle.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact South Bureau Homicide Detectives Refugio Garza and Colin Braudrick at 213-485-1383.   After-hours or on weekends, calls may be directed to a 24-hour toll-free number at 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (527-3247). Callers may also text “CRIMES” with a cell phone or log on to www.lapdonline.org and click on Web Tips.  When using a cell phone, messages should always begin with “LAPD.” All calls and contacts are anonymous.
