Shuttle for Oakridge Residents

Los Angeles: Oakridge residents will have their first occasion to assess damages.

The Los Angeles Police Department has developed a Plan of Action for the residents devastated by the fire at Oakridge Mobile Home Park.  The plan is to assist the residence to get a firsthand look at their homes.

Starting this evening, November 16, 2008, at around 9:00 p.m., Oakridge residents will be able to sign up for a seat on a 15 passenger van that will be used to transport them into the park, beginning Monday morning, November 17th, at around 9:00 a.m., from Sylmar High School.

Residents will have an opportunity to survey and briefly assess the damage to their homes.  Those whose homes are still standing and have been determined to be safe, will be allowed approximately 10 minutes to go inside and gather a few of their personal affects.  Residents whose homes were burned out will not be permitted to go through the rubble.

The shuttles will be running all day to allow all of the residents who wish to take advantage of this opportunity to do so.

In an effort to account for all of the residents who lived in the Oakridge Mobile Home Park, the LAPD is still requesting that all residents please check in and provide their names and addresses by calling 311 from within the City of Los Angeles, or 213-485-2121 from outside the City limits.

For more information please contact Media Relations Section at 213-485-3586.
