A Dispute Leaves One Man Stabbed to Death NR10522cj

Los Angeles:  The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Van Nuys Homicide detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the arrest of suspect(s) who stabbed a 32-year-old man from Van Nuys.

On November 5, 2010, at about 7:46 p.m., LAPD Van Nuys Area patrol officers responded to a stabbing incident in the 14800 block of Gilmore Street.  Once at the scene, the officers were led to an apartment where they observed a man inside who was apparently suffering from multiple stab wounds.  The victim was identified as Cameron Trute.  Los Angeles City Fire Department rescue personnel responded and transported Trute to a local hospital where he later died as a result of his wounds.

Homicide detectives’ investigation revealed that Trute was having a dispute with two possible gang members.  During the argument the suspect(s) took out an unknown sharp object and stabbed the victim repeatedly and then left the scene.  The victim managed to run to a friend’s apartment where the paramedics were summoned.

Detectives say that the two suspects were last seen running westbound on Gilmore Street and southbound on Kester Avenue.   They are described only as male Hispanics in their teens.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call LAPD’s Van Nuys Division Homicide Detectives Nuttall or Martinez at 818-374-0040.  During non-business hours or on weekends, calls may be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7.  Anyone wishing to remain anonymous may call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477).  Tipsters may also contact Crimestoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) using a cell phone.  All text messages should begin with the letters “LAPD.”  Tipsters can also go to LAPDOnline.org, click on "webtips" and follow the prompts.
