WHY:    
Congressman David Dreier, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Chief Charlie Beck, a host of LAPD staff members and celebrities will become food servers to the homeless for Thanksgiving.  

The LAPD has had a long standing partnership with the mission to assist the homeless to ensure that they have a warm meal and encouragement for the holidays.

Each year the Los Angeles Mission feeds over 1500 meals a day totaling over 600,000 meals per year.  For this year’s event the Los Angeles Mission is expecting to serve around 3500 meals.

There will be a 10 a.m. orientation for all volunteers. Chief Beck will arrive at 10:45 a.m. for a red carpet photo op with all of the VIP volunteers prior to serving the hot meals.
