Two Teenagers Killed in Drive-by Shooting

Los Angeles: Two young men were killed while walking down the street in Harbor City on Sunday.  Homicide detectives from Harbor Division are asking for the public’s help to identify the suspect(s) who were seen driving away in a dark colored sport utility vehicle (SUV).

On November 27, 2011, around 5:30 p.m., Jorge Luis Rodriguez and David Jonathan Escobar, both 16-years-old, were walking together on the sidewalk on Senator Avenue at 254th Street when a dark colored SUV drove up alongside them.  The occupant(s) of the SUV fired an unknown type of handgun multiple times striking both young men.  After the shooting, the victims ran a short distance away, but soon collapsed.  Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department immediately responded to the location, found the victims unresponsive and pronounced them dead at the scene.

The motive for this shooting is unknown and homicide detectives from Harbor Division are asking for the public’s help to identify and locate the suspect(s) responsible for killing the two young men.  Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Harbor Area Homicide Detectives Fernando Rivas or Boris Oliva at 310-726-7881, or 310-726-7880. During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7.  Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477).  Tipsters may also contact Crime Stoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone.  All text messages should begin with the letters “LAPD.” Tipsters may also go to LAPDOnline.org, click on "webtips" and follow the prompts.
