62-Year-Old Man Killed in Hit and Run NR16359im

Los Angeles: A fatal hit and run traffic collision occurred on Hyde Park Boulevard, east of West Boulevard. On November 14, 2016, around 1:00 a.m., Mr. Charles Mays was deliberately laying in the middle of the street on Hyde Park Boulevard east of West Boulevard. A motorist traveling eastbound on Hyde Park Boulevard struck Mr. Mays. Two additional unknown motorists traveling eastbound on Hyde Park Boulevard also struck him. The first motorist stopped to get help for the Mr. Mays, however the two additional motorists continued traveling eastbound on Hyde Park Boulevard failing to stop and identify themselves or render aide. The two motorists are still outstanding and there is no description of the hit and run vehicles.Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and the pedestrian was pronounced dead at scene.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
