LAPD Investigates Homicide in Harbor Area

Friday, October 23, 1998

HARBOR AREA HOMICIDE

On Friday, October 23,1998 at approximately 5:45 a.m.., a shooting occurred in the 500 block of MacArthur Avenue, San Pedro. The shooting resulted in two individuals who lived at the residence being wounded by gunfire. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The 31-year-old victim failed to respond to medical treatment and he succumbed to a gunshot wound. The 29-year-old victim was hospitalized and he is in stable condition. A motive for this shooting incident has not been established. The names of the victims are not available for release. The identity of the suspect(s) is unknown at this stage of the investigation.

Detectives Jim Vena and Lou Leiker who are assigned to South Bureau Homicide are conducting the investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident may contact Detectives Vena and Leiker, South Bureau Homicide at 213-237-1310.
