Wilt Chamberlain Dies of Natural Causes

Wednesday, October 13, 1999

On Tuesday, October 12, 1999, at approximately 12:30 PM, West Los Angeles police officers responded to a possible ambulance death investigation at the 15200 block of Antelo Place. The officers arrived and were met by Mr. Joe Mendoza, the ground's keeper for over 16 years, who stated he found Mr. Wilt Chamberlain in bed. Mr. Mendoza called the paramedics when Mr. Chamberlain did not respond.

Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics pronounced Mr. Chamberlain deceased at 12:41 PM. The investigation revealed Mr. Chamberlain apparently died of natural causes. He was being treated by his Doctor for a cardiac condition.
