"Police Seek Public's Assistance in Locating 11 year-old Girl"

El Sereno - On Saturday, October 14, 2000, at 10:30 a.m., Hollenbeck Area Community Police Station will conduct a press conference at 4884 1/2 Navarro Street in El Sereno (Thomas Guide Map Page 595/E6). Hollenbeck Captain Allan Michelena and investigators will provide further information regarding an 11 year-old girl who has been missing since 5:30 p.m. yesterday (October 13, 2000). In particular, investigators will provide a photo of the missing girl, detailed information regarding the girl's last known whereabouts and description as well as an opportunity to speak with the Gomez family regarding the disappearance. A Spanish speaker will be available at the press conference for the Spanish-speaking media.

The disappearance occurred on Friday, October 13, 2000, at approximately 5:30 p.m. when Jacqueline Gomez, an 11 year-old Hispanic girl, was last seen leaving El Sereno Middle School where she is a student. Jacqueline Gomez is approximately 4 feet 11inches tall and weighs approximately 70 pounds. She was last seen wearing blue shorts, a black sweater and white tennis shoes.

An Incident Command Post has been set up at 4884 1/2 Navarro Street in El Sereno and the search is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts or disappearance of Jacqueline Gomez is urged to notify the Incident Command Post by calling Hollenbeck Area Community Police Station at 213-485-2942.
