"Mysterious Shooting Death Under Investigation"

San Pedro - On Friday, October 20, 2000, at approximately 3:00 p.m., two suspects described only as males, approached a 57 year-old male Asian, at a business located in the 1200 block of West Lomita Boulevard. For unknown reasons, one of the suspects approached the victim, holding a handgun that he used to shoot the victim in the torso. The shooter and his accomplice then fled the scene in an unknown direction. The victim was subsequently transported by rescue ambulance to a local area hospital where he succumbed to his gunshot wound.

The suspects and murder weapon remain outstanding. The motive for this walk-up shooting remains under investigation. The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

The incident is being investigated by Harbor Homicide Detectives. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Harbor Detectives at 310-548- 7621.
