77th Street Homicide Detectives Investigate the Murder of Three Young Men

"77th Street Homicide Detectives Investigate the Murder of Three Young Men"

Los Angeles: On Saturday, October 27, 2001, at approximately 11:40 P.M., 21 year-old Timothy Jones, his cousin, 21 year-old Traonn Nutt, and a friend, 22 year-old Theran Isach Miller, were in front of the 7000 block of South Madden Avenue in Los Angeles. Jones was parking his car, a blue, 1989 Ford Mustang, Convertible, 2-door. As Jones maneuvered his car, suspects drove by in an unknown type vehicle, and fired numerous rounds from a handgun into Jones' car. All three of the young men were struck by the gunfire. Los Angeles Fire Department Rescue Personnel responded to the scene of the crime and after a short investigation, pronounced all three shooting victims dead at the scene.

The motive is unknown; however, the shootings appear to be gang-related.

77th Street Detectives are handling the investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Detectives G. Diaz or W. Fallon at 213- 485-1385 during daytime hours or the Department Command Post at 213-485-2504 during evening hours and weekends.

This press release was prepared by Police Officer Guillermo Campos, Media Relations Section, 213-485-3586
