LAPD on Tactical Alert

Los Angeles: In light of the recent warning issued by Attorney General John Ashcroft, the Los Angeles Police Department has been placed on a tactical alert. Since September 11, 2001, the Department has been on a heightened level of alert, paying close attention to identified high profile and vulnerable locations within the City of Los Angeles. Those locations include high rise and government buildings and critical infrastructure facilities. To date, over 300 such locations have been identified by the Department and are being closely monitored. The Department's Operations Center and Intelligence Control Center remain operational and the decision to remain on a tactical alert will be made on a day-to-day basis.
