Woman On Life Support After Found Shot

Los Angeles: On Tuesday, October 1, 2002 at approximately 12:05 a.m., Los Angeles City Fire Department Paramedics responded to the 400 block of 19th Street in San Pedro on a female down in the street. Upon arrival to the scene, they found that the victim lying in the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the upper torso. The victim was transported to Harbor UCLA Medical Center where she has been placed on life support.
Harbor Area Homicide Detectives are conducting the investigation. The victim has been identified as 46 year-old Mary Elizabeth Ortiz of San Pedro.
The suspect(s) and weapon remain outstanding. No motive is known at this time.
