Domestic Violence Results in Murder

Los Angeles: On October 17, 2002, at approximately 11:50 p.m., Edward Doxie, 58 years of age, who is a double amputee, was involved in a physical altercation with his girlfriend, Sabrina Turner, 43 years of age. Mr. Doxie is confined to a wheelchair and receives dialysis treatment three times a week through a medical strut inserted into his neck.

During the altercation, Turner pulled the strut from Mr. Doxie’s neck causing him to bleed to death. Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics were called to the scene, located in the 600 block of East 41st Street, and transported Mr. Doxie to USC Media Center where he failed to respond to treatment. Mr. Doxie was pronounced dead at 12:38 a.m. on October 18, 2002.

Turner was detained by friends and relatives who were inside the residence at the time of the incident and held for responding officers. Turner was arrested and booked for murder and is being held on $1,000,000.00 bail.

This press release was prepared by Public Information Officer Jason Lee, Media Relations Section, 213-485-3586.
