Los Angeles: The Los Angeles police Department’s Central Traffic Division will be conducting a combined sobriety and drivers license checkpoint on Friday, October 25, 2002, from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. next day. The checkpoint will be located on Vermont Avenue between 6^th Street and Wilshire Boulevard.

It is believed that the majority of hit and run traffic collisions involve either DUI and/or unlicensed drivers. Drinking and driving is an unacceptable behavior, which causes impairment, which may lead to property damage, injury or death. The Los Angeles Police Department strongly advises a designated sober driver for those who choose to go out and drink. Additionally, driving without having a valid driver’s license is against the law and the operator could be arrested and the vehicle impounded.
