"Shooting Leaves Two Wounded; Nine Year Old Girl Stable"

 

Los Angeles: On Sunday, October 27, 2002, at approximately 9:20 p.m., Pacific Area officers responded to a radio call of shots fired in the area of California Avenue and Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice.

Upon arrival, the officers found the victim, 26 year-old Joey Salazar, down in the street with several gunshot wounds. Salazar had been shot after exiting a vehicle. A nine year- old female, who was a passenger in the vehicle, also sustained a single gunshot wound. Both were transported to a local area hospital where they are recovering.

The preliminary investigation revealed the suspects, only described as male Hispanics, were driving a small silver colored subcompact vehicle, at the time of the shooting.
