Victim Shot Then Run Over by Suspect’s Vehicle

Los Angeles: On Tuesday, October 7, 2003, at about 2:35 a.m., the victim identified as 25 year-old Aaron Nunez was walking eastbound on 71st Street. As Nunez approached Hoover Street, two male Hispanic suspects, 18-20 years of age drove up to Nunez blocking his path. The passenger in the vehicle got out of the car and asked Nunez where he was from. Nunez turned away from the suspect and began to run. The suspect then fired several shots at Nunez striking him. Nunez fell to the ground, at which time the suspects ran him over with their car.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a late model 2-door, burgundy Camaro, with tinted windows and white writing on the back window.

The Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced Nunez dead at the scene.

The motive for the shooting is gang related. No suspects or weapon are in custody.
