Eight-Year-Old Boy Dies of Injuries

 

Los Angeles: On October 26, 2003, at about 11:00 p.m., Wilshire Area patrol officers responded to California Hospital to investigate a reported child abuse. The officers learned that an eight year-old child, who is autistic and blind, had been transported by Los Angeles Fire Department rescue ambulance from the 1400 block of South Wilton Place suffering from internal injuries. Following surgery, the child was transported to Children’s Hospital, where at about 6:00 a.m. on October 27, 2003, died from his injuries.

Detectives from the Abused Child Unit of Juvenile Division have been assigned to the case. At this time, it appears the victim’s injuries are the result of child abuse; however, detectives are awaiting more definitive findings expected from the investigation being conducted by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office. The investigation is ongoing.
