Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) West Valley Division and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) are walking in the annual "Light the Night Walk" for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Their coordinated effort will help raise funds in the name of CHP Officer Andy Ryan, who was diagnosed with Lymphoma last year.

The "Light the Night Walk" is the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's annual fall campaign held in hundreds of communities around the country to raise money for blood cancer research and patient services. Last year, this event raised more than $18 million. This year's goal is $23 million.

The Los Angeles Police Protective League has become one of the team sponsors by making a generous donation of supplying T-shirts for the walkers on Andy's Team.

The public is invited to join "Andy Ryan's Team" and help raise funds for the "Light the Night Walk" by calling 1-(877) LTNWALK and registering under Andy Ryan's Team.

For further information, please contact Officer Leland Tang, CHP Public Information Office, at 818-888-0980 or Sgt. Martin Fentress, West Valley Community Relations, at 818-756-8406.

This press release was prepared by Media Relations Section, at 213 485–3586.
