Reward Offered in Brutal Murder

 

What: News Conference

When: Thursday, October 21, 2004, 10:00 a.m.

Where: West Valley Area, 19020 Vanowen Street, Reseda

Los Angeles- Los Angeles City Councilmember Dennis P. Zine, 3rd Council District, will announce a reward from the City of $50,000 for information leading to the identity, arrest and prosecution of the persons responsible for the death of 20 year-old Jason Lee Deeks.

On Friday, April 16, 2004, (Press Release Robbery Turns Into Deadly Shooting) at about 10:15 p.m., Jason Lee Deeks and a friend were walking home from a video store. As they walked on Topanga Canyon Boulevard near Strathern Street, they were approached by three male Black suspects. The suspects displayed a handgun and demanded their wallets. Deeks and his friend complied. When the suspects turned and ran from them, Deeks chased after them in attempt to retrieve his property. One of the suspects saw Deeks and shot him. Deeks later died from his injuries.

The victim's family will be in attendance.
