Funeral Notice for LAPD Officer Landon Michael Dorris


Los Angeles: The funeral for Police Officer II Landon Michael Dorris, 31, who died in the line of duty on Sunday, October 22, 2006, in a traffic accident in Los Angeles, California.

PIO. Lieutenant Paul Vernon will be the public information officer for the LAPD at the funeral. He will be at the cathedral by 8:30 AM and will conduct interviews. A PIO will be at cathedral starting at 4:30 AM for early morning interviews.

Media staging. A dias will be set up for media at the entrance to the cathedral, inside the main gate. Lieutenant Vernon will facilitate interviews for reporters with VIPs arriving.

NOTE: The immediate family has said they do not wish to do any interviews with media. Please respect their privacy and request.

Media parking. The curbside cut-out immediately south of the cathedral, on the south side of Temple Street, will be available for media parking. Only the designated pool truck will be allowed to park on the cathedral grounds.

Pool camera. The archdiocese has arranged for a pool camera inside the cathedral through RTNA. Both a video pool and still camera pool will be allowed.

In lieu of flowers, Officer Dorris’ family has asked that donation be made to a family trust, set up to support his two surviving sons, ages one and three:
