Cops for Tots

What:
COPS for TOTS car and motorcycle show

When:
Sunday, October 28, 2007 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Where:
Los Angeles Police Academy
1880 North Academy Road
Los Angeles, CA 90012

Who:
Chief William Bratton
Celebrity guest
LAPD Command Staff

Why:
The event raises money to benefit multiple children’s charities within the city of Los Angeles, including USC Children’s Center.

A panel of blind judges, ranging from 8 to 20 years of age will select the winning vehicle.
The winner will receive the VIP (Visually Impaired Person) award. An award created by LAPD Officer Sean Reinhardt. The “Junior Blind of America”Foundation will provide the judges who will wear white cotton gloves and thick T-shirts to avoid streaking with skin oils and scratching paint jobs. During the past years, the youngsters had the opportunity to meet Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Chief Bratton.

Officer Reinhardt’s blind adopted son will be one of the judges. “The winner will be unpredictable.
The kids will judge the winning vehicle strictly by feel, they will not be impressed by expensive paint job
or extensive chrome,” said Officer Reinhardt.

A police racecar will be on display. The car has been part of the “GOT-Ya!” (GetOn Track-Youth Alternatives) program, which provides legal alternatives to illegal street racing.

For more information or interviews on this event, please contact Officer Reinhardt at 818-832-0992 or email at reinsport@yahoo.com.
