Man Shot and Killed as a Result of an Ongoing Dispute

Los Angeles:  Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating the murder suspect who shot a man due to an ongoing family dispute.

On Friday, October 24, 2008, at about 9:04 p.m., 22-year-old Isaac Salinas was standing in the driveway of his residence in the 13200 block of Raven Street in Sylmar.  The suspect, identified as Jose Padilla drove up in a compact sedan.  Padilla exited the vehicle armed with a shotgun and shot Salinas once in the torso.  Padilla returned to his vehicle and fled the scene.

Police officers assigned to Mission Area responded to the scene to investigate the shooting radio call.  Salinas was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The motive for the shooting involves an ongoing dispute over Salinas’ relationship with Padilla’s sister.

Jose Padilla is 22 years of age and also a Sylmar resident.  He is described as a male Hispanic, 5’2” tall, weighs 176 pounds, with black hair (shaved) and brown eyes.

Padilla’s vehicle is described as an older model tan or champagne color, four-door compact sedan.

Anyone with information about the shooting or the whereabouts of Jose Padilla is urged to contact Mission Area Detective Gene Parshall at 818-838-9810.  After hours and on weekends calls may be directed to the 24-hour toll free number, 1-877-LAW-FULL (529-3855).  Callers may also text “CRIMES” with a cell phone or by logging on to www.lapdonline.org and clicking on Web Tips.  When using a cell phone always begin the message with “LAPD.” All calls and contacts are anonymous.
