Deputy Chief is Moved to Challenging Assignment, Commander Moved to Operations Valley Bureau as Commanding Officer NR11465mjf

Los Angeles: The LAPD is pleased to announce the assignment of Operations Valley Bureau Deputy Chief Kirk Albanese as the new commanding officer of the prestigious Detective Bureau following the Retirement of Deputy Chief David Doan.

On Friday, October 7, 2011, LAPD Chief Charlie Beck announced the move of Chief Albanese to his new position.  “We would like to thank Chief Doan for his many years of dedicated service to the LAPD and the residents of Los Angeles.  I am confident that Chief Albanese will carry on the tradition of professionalism, integrity and quality of service that we have come to know and expect from our Detective Bureau and its leadership,” said Chief Beck.

Assuming the role of Commanding Officer of Operations Valley Bureau is Commander Jorge Villegas.  Commander Villegas is no stranger to Operations Valley Bureau, having been assigned there previously as a Commander under Deputy Chief Michel Moore.   For the last two years, Villegas has served as the Assistant to the Director of the Office of Operations, Assistant Chief Earl Paysinger.  Chief Beck stated; “We are looking forward to Commander Villegas’ return to Valley Bureau.  Valley Bureau is a challenging command with a wide variety of communities.  I believe these two assignments will enhance the great work that has been done in both the Valley and Detective Bureaus.”
