WHY:
On June 9, 2015, around 6:30 a.m., Los Angeles resident Analilia Ramirez discovered that her vehicle had been burglarized. The unknown suspect stole several items including the vehicle battery and miscellaneous tools worth over $250.00.

However, the most important items stolen were her 9-year-old child's expensive orthopedic leg braces. On June 17, 2015, LAPD personnel organized a fund raiser and along with a generous donation from the Los Angeles Police Protective League were able to replace the braces he needed in order to be mobile. The officers and other LAPD personnel continued to raise funds through a GoFundMe account to help make their home more accessible and comfortable for the child.

Both the young man and his mother will be available for comment at the Newton Area Station.
