Captain Eisenberg was born in Washington, DC in 1968. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Colorado College. After moving to California and joining the Los Angeles Police Department, he received his Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California. He is also a graduate of the FBI Academy and Hazardous Devices School.

Captain Eisenberg was appointed to the Department in December 1990, and has worked a variety of patrol, investigative and specialized assignments. He was promoted to sergeant in March 1996, to lieutenant in October 2000, and captain in May 2007.

As an officer, his assignments included Northeast Area Patrol, Southeast Area Patrol, and Wilshire Area Detectives. As a sergeant, his assignments included Southwest Area Patrol, Southeast Area Patrol, Internal Affairs and DNC 2000 Planning Group. After promoting to lieutenant, he was a Watch Commander at both Valley Traffic Division and Wilshire Area Patrol.

Captain Eisenberg is an officer in the United States Navy Reserve, and was mobilized to active duty in 2002. Upon his return to the Department, he was selected as Officer in Charge of the Rampart Gang Impact Team. He then served as the Bomb Squad Commander and Officer in Charge of the Hazardous Devices/Materials Section.

Justin and his wife Michelle are the parents of two children.
