Shelley Freeman was appointed to the Board of Police Commissioners by Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa in July of 2005. She is Regional President for Wells Fargo's Los Angeles Metro Community Bank, which includes Los Angeles County and Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. She is responsible for 4,000 team members and 230 banking stores.
Ms. Freeman assumed her current role in 2002. Previously, she was head of Investment Internet Services for Wells Fargo's Internet Services Group where she was responsible for development of online strategy, product management and capabilities, and customer service for online investing.
She joined Wells Fargo in 1996 as Director of Private Banking and Brokerage Administration where she was responsible for leading the integration of the financial consultant sales force with private banking. In 1997, her responsibilities grew to include overseeing all of Private Client Services' marketing, product development and management, training, sales information and strategy, front office technology, and compliance. Before joining Wells Fargo, she was a marketing and high net-worth services director at Lehman Brothers.
A frequent speaker on the topics of leadership and diversity, she is a charter member of the Wells Fargo National Diversity Council, where she helped set the company's policies on employee diversity, and community outreach programs.
She graduated from Wilkes University and is a member of its Board of Trustees. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Jewish Home for the Aging, the Los Angeles Center Theatre Group, Jewish Family Service, and ShareBuilder Corporation. She is also a member of the President's Council at CHARO Community Development Corp. and serves on the Southwest Regional Board of Directors for Operation Hope.

Ms. Freeman also is an honorary board member of AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA), and the Trevor Project, which serves at-risk gay and lesbian youth.
Last year, she chaired the following local events:
- 2004 event chair, AIDS Walk L.A.
- 2004 event co-chair, Hispanic Congressional Caucus Institute's education programs
- 2004 event co-chair, Imagen Awards
- 2004 event co-chair, Los Angeles Alzheimer's Walk, which she will chair again in 2005
Ms. Freeman has also been recognized for her contributions to Los Angeles:
- 2004 "Power Player of the Year," by In Los Angeles magazine, a publication focused on the gay and lesbian community
- 2004 Golden Horn Award from the Valley Cultural Center for her support of arts and culture in the San Fernando Valley
