Drive-By Shooting Takes Another Life

Los Angeles: Rampart Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting death of a 25 year-old male Hispanic.
On September 15, 2003, at about 10:45 p.m., Rampart Area Patrol Officers responded to a radio call of an ambulance shooting in the 500 block of south Union Drive. When the officers arrived, they located the victim lying on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body.
Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedics responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he failed to respond to treatment and died.
The investigation revealed that the victim was standing on the sidewalk when the suspects drove up alongside him and shot him. The suspects then drove northbound on Union Drive when they stopped and confronted a second victim who was also standing on the sidewalk. The rear passenger exited the suspects’ vehicle and confronted the victim and fired once at the victim missing him. The suspects fled in their vehicle in a southbound direction.
The suspects are described as three male Hispanics with shaved heads. The suspect with the gun is approximately 25/30 years of age, 5’-10", 150/160 pounds, he also has a thin mustache. The suspect’s vehicle is described as a possible Ford Taurus or Toyota Corolla, burgundy in color, with primer on the driver’s side door. The rear windows were tinted with oversized chrome rims and the vehicle was lowered.
The suspects and weapon are still outstanding. The motive for the shooting is gang related. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending the notification of the family.
