Man Shot After Argument

Los Angeles: Rampart Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting death of a 41 year-old male black.
On Friday, March 7, 2003, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Rampart Area patrol officers responded to an "Ambulance Shooting" radio call at 3rd Street and Mariposa Avenue. Upon their arrival, the officers discovered the victim down on the northeast corner with gunshot wounds to his upper torso. Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics arrived on the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for medical treatment, where he died a short time later.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and suspect had a verbal argument approximately five minutes prior to the shooting. The suspect rode a bicycle up to the victim’s location, dismounted, and again began to argue with the victim. The victim grabbed the suspect, at which time the suspect withdrew an unknown type handgun. The suspect fired multiple rounds, striking the victim in the body. The victim walked northbound towards 3rd Street and then collapsed at the corner.
The suspect is described as male Hispanic, 45 to 50 years of age, wearing an army style camouflage jacket and blue pants. The reason for the dispute between the suspect and victim is unknown.
The identity of the victim will not be released until after his relatives have been notified.
