Missing 80 Year-Old Japanese Woman At Risk

"Missing 80 Year-Old Japanese Woman At-Risk"

 

Los Angeles - The Los Angeles Police Department and Rampart Area Community Police Station seek the assistance of the public in locating 80 year-old Kayoko Sanfillippo who lives at 533 S. Westmoreland Street in the Westlake area of Los Angeles. Mrs. Sanfillippo is originally from Japan and speaks very little English. Kayoko is diabetic and requires insulin injections. She is also suffering from the beginning stages of Alzheimer's Disease.

Prior to leaving her residence on Sunday, March 4, 2001, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Kayoko stated that she wanted "to go home." It is unknown to what "home" she was referring. Mrs. Sanfillippo and her husband have lived in their current apartment on Westmoreland for 8 years. Prior to this, she used to live in Hollywood Division at 6211 Afton Place, Apartment 4. The Sanfillippo's have also lived in the 8th Street and Union Avenue area of Los Angeles.

Mrs. Sanfillippo usually travels by bus; however, she is physically unable to get on a bus without assistance.

Thus far, an extensive search has been conducted for Kayoko Sanfillippo. A total of 26 LAPD police officers, in addition to police officers from the City of Inglewood Police Department, 2 police K-9 search dogs and a police helicopter have been used in the search. The search is ongoing.

Mrs. Kayoko Sanfillippo is described as being 5'01" tall, weighing 125 lbs, with gray hear and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white jacket, red blouse, black stretch pants, black shoes and a tan scarf. Kayoko does not have teeth and has a birthmark on her upper right arm. There is no photograph of Mrs. Kayoko Sanfillippo available at this time.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Mrs. Kayoko Sanfillippo is urged to call the Rampart Area Community Police Station Watch Commander at 213-485-4061.

***UPDATED INFORMATION***

Rampart Detectives were notified on Monday, March 05, 2001, at approximately 12:00 noon, that Mrs. Kayoko Sanfillippo had returned to her residence via a bus shortly prior to the notification.
