On June 24, 1999, at 3:30 PM., Operation Children, a non-profit charitable organization, will be at the Red Shield youth center, 532 West 11th Street, Los Angeles, to present Los Angeles Police Chief Bernard Parks and the "LAPD Rampart Police Activities League" Youth Center with a 14 passenger Ford Econoline van for its new youth center.

The "LAPD Rampart Police Activities League" Youth Center is staffed by Los Angeles Police officers who act as program directors and role models for local youth. The youth center was opened in MacArthur Park to fill a void in youth services for that area. They currently provide tutoring, sports activities, arts and crafts, and Tae Kwon Do classes.

Operation Children was established in 1983 and is dedicated to the welfare of children in Los Angeles County. The dedicated ladies of Operation Children have been working with the Rampart Youth Center to help secure funding and equipment for the Rampart Youth center.
