LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Sunday, July 16, 2000

"Two Gunshot Victims Found in Driveway"

Los Angeles: On Sunday, July 16, 2000, at approximately 8:30am, Rampart patrol officers responded to a radio call regarding a shooting at 347 Patton Street. Upon their arrival the officers discovered two victims of gunshot wounds in the driveway. Responding paramedics pronounced one of the victims dead at the scene and transported the other to a local hospital for treatment and he is expected to survive.

The investigation revealed that an altercation had taken place between the two victims and two individuals at the location. One of the suspects armed himself with a hand gun and shot both victims. The two suspects then fled southbound on Patton Street.

The suspects are described only as two male Hispanics, 16 to 19 years of age with shaved heads and dressed in gang attire. The motive for the shooting has not been established but appears to be gang related.

The victim is identified as Alberto Perales, a 19 year old resident of Los Angeles.
