"Homicide Investigation in Rampart Area"

Los Angeles - On Saturday, September 2, 2000, at approximately 2:05 a.m., a 43-year-old female Hispanic was standing in the parking lot of the Royal Viking Motel, located at 2025 West 3rd Street when a vehicle drove up to the location with an unknown number of suspects inside. A male Hispanic between the ages of 18 - 24 years of age exited the front passenger side of the vehicle and yelled at the victim. The suspect then pointed a handgun at the victim and fired several times. The suspect returned to the vehicle and fled the location westbound on 3rd Street.

The victim was transported to USCMC where she was pronounced dead.

The suspect's vehicle is only described as a large light colored vehicle. The motive for this shooting is unknown and the suspects are outstanding. The victim's identity is being withheld pending the notification of the next of kin.
