Pedestrian Struck by DUI Driver

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Monday, September 27, 1999

On Sunday, September 26, 1999 at approximately 1:45 A.M., Mr. Jesse Mansfield Austen, 22 years of age and resident of Thousand Oaks, was struck by a 1991 Toyota pick-up while standing on the sidewalk near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Crescent Heights Boulevard. As a result of the collision the Mr. Austen sustained major trauma and was transported to Cedar Sinai Hospital by a LAFD Rescue Ambulance where he was listed in extremely critical condition. The vehicle was driven by Alexander Camisa, 21 years of age and resident of Irvine, California.

West Traffic officers responded to the scene of the collision and conducted a preliminary investigation. The officers determined that the driver of the vehicle, Alexander Camisa, was driving under the influence. Camisa was subsequently taken into custody for Felony Driving Under the Influence.
