Sexual Assault Investigation

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Thursday, September 7, 2000

"Sexual Assault Investigation"

On September 6, 2000, at approximately 9:00 PM., the victim, a 31 year old woman, and a male employee co-worker, later identified as the suspect, were working at a Sandwich Shop in Hollywood. The suspect armed himself with a knife and dragged the victim to the rear of the location, where he sexually assaulted the victim. The victim sustained numerous cuts about the arms and hands and a black eye when the suspect punched her as she struggled to get away from him.

Eventually the victim was able to get away from the suspect, and flee the location. She observed two officers on bicycle patrol and flagged the officers down.

While the officers were doing their initial interview of the victim, the officers observed the suspect casually walking eastbound Hollywood Blvd, in their direction. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The victim was medically treated and provided a counselor.

The suspect has been identified as Carlos Justino Carrillo, 35 years of age, a resident of Los Angeles. He was booked at Hollywood Police Station for 261(a) PC, Rape by Force or Fear, and is being held with a $300,000.00 bail. The suspect is currently being held at Parker Center.

The investigation is being handled by Hollywood Area Detectives.
